1. Overview
VeroRead helps people read and understand webpages, PDFs, images, and Google Docs. This policy explains what information is processed when you use VeroRead, why it is processed, and the choices available to you.
2. Information we process
- Reading content: URLs, webpage text, documents, and images that you choose to load so VeroRead can extract, simplify, define, summarise, or read the content aloud.
- Settings: Preferences such as reading level, text size, font, contrast, and other accessibility controls. These are used to provide the experience you request.
- Usage and device information: Events such as page views and feature usage, along with limited technical information, to understand performance and improve VeroRead.
- Messages you send us: Information you include when contacting support at support@veroread.com.
VeroRead does not require an account for its core reading features, and we do not ask you to provide your name, phone number, or payment details to use the app.
3. How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide the reading, accessibility, AI, audio, export, and document-processing features you request.
- Keep the service secure, troubleshoot errors, and prevent misuse.
- Measure how VeroRead is used and improve its reliability, accessibility, and content.
- Respond to support requests and communicate about the service when necessary.
4. Service providers
To operate VeroRead, information may be processed by service providers acting on our behalf. These include infrastructure providers, OpenAI services used for requested AI processing, PostHog used for product analytics, Google services when you choose Google Docs features, and browser or speech services when you use read-aloud features. These providers receive only the information needed for the feature or service involved and process it under their own terms and policies.
5. Content you submit
Only submit content that you have the right to process. You remain responsible for the content and URLs you provide. Please avoid submitting confidential, highly sensitive, or personal information that is not needed for your reading task.
Content is processed to provide the requested feature. We do not sell submitted reading content or use it to build advertising profiles. Temporary copies may be held for as long as needed to complete processing, protect the service, or investigate technical issues.
6. Analytics and cookies
VeroRead uses PostHog to understand aggregate product usage, such as visits and feature engagement. The service may use cookies or similar technologies needed for analytics, preferences, security, or basic operation. You can limit cookies through your browser settings, although some features may work differently as a result.
7. Google Docs
If you choose to open or export content with Google Docs, that feature connects directly with Google and is governed by Google's privacy policy and the permissions you approve. VeroRead does not receive your Google password. You can revoke the permission through your Google account settings.
8. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access to, correction or deletion of personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a privacy request, email support@veroread.com. We may need enough information to verify and respond to your request.
9. Children
VeroRead is designed to support learners, but the service is not intended to collect personal information directly from children. If a child needs help using VeroRead, a parent, guardian, or educator should supervise their use and avoid entering personal information.
10. Security and changes
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. We may update this policy when the service or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date above shows when this version took effect.
